Cryptocurrency worth $60 million stolen in Japan

Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies worth half a billion has been stolen in a hacker attack in Japan, reports Japanese media.

The Japanese Financial Supervisory Authority has initiated an inspection by Tech Bureau, a company that exchanges cryptocurrency and was hit by the cyber attack that led to the cryptocurrency worth 6.7 billion yen disappeared.

The digital exchange company went offline on Thursday and it will not be operational until the attack has been thoroughly investigated.

The cryptocurrencies that has been stolen are both bitcoin, bitcoin cash, and the Japanese variant Monacoin.

Cryptocurrency is popular in Japan, and as many as 50,000 businesses are willing to accept payment in crypto in the country.
